UNAC-Calgary is seeking a new Director, Fund Development to provide a leadership role in raising a source of independent funds for the association. The Director, Fund Development will develop an annual fundraising strategy, organize a minimum of one fundraising event per year and will also lead UNAC-Calgary’s AGLC Casino fundraising event while working closely with other Board members to provide support with other projects and events as required.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Develop, implement and oversee annual fundraising strategy
  • Identify innovative opportunities for fund development
  • Lead, plan and coordinate annual AGLC Casino fundraising event including application submission, coordinating volunteer shifts, liaising with AGLC representative(s), and assisting with the close-out report
  • Develop a new Corporate Fundraising Package
  • Remain current with market trends and industry developments regarding charitable and commercial gaming in Alberta and Canada
  • Work cooperatively with other board members to make community investment decisions in accordance with national and local association mandates
  • Actively participate in one monthly board of directors meeting (second Mondays)
  • Commit to a minimum 2 year term on the board of directors

Internal board relationships:

  • Work with Treasurer on AGLC Casino-related submissions, close-out reports and related financial matters
  • Work with Director, Events to organize at minimum one annual fundraising event
  • Liaise with Director, External Partnerships and UNA-Canada (National body) related to corporate fundraising program

Desired qualifications:

  • Fund development experience, interest and training
  • Proven track record raising funds for special events
  • Education related to Marketing / Public Relations/ Finance or related experience
  • Supporter of the work of the United Nations
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Commissioner of Oaths (not a requirement but an asset)
  • Past experience working or volunteering with the United Nations an asset
