On UN Day 2014, we invited Calgarians to take part in the post 2015 development agenda dialogue. This year, we invite Calgarians to continue that conversation.

On Monday, October 24th, 2016, UNA-Canada Calgary Branch will be commemorating UN Day by hosting two events focused on raising awareness about the Global Goals.

Event 1 : Which Global Goal matters most to you?

You’ve seen leaders, influential global citizens and media icons doing it, and now it’s your turn! We invite you to share which  Global Goal matters most to you and make a pledge on how you will help create the Future You Want!

Visit our #GlobalGoals display at City Hall on Monday, October 24th between 12 and 1:30 PM, and

1. Pick a  Global Goal

2. Take a Selfie

3. Make a pledge

This is a drop-in event open to the public, so no need to register!

Event 2: How can you contribute to environmental sustainability?

Join UNA-Canada Calgary Branch for an informative and interactive panel discussion about responsible and sustainable consumption and the importance of protecting the planet and future generations.

The evening’s discussion on environmental sustainability in Calgary focuses on Global Goals #11: sustainable cities & communities, and #12: responsible consumption.

The aim is to highlight the ongoing efforts in Calgary to maintain a healthy and manageable ecosystem for future generations, discuss how local economic factors impact global objectives, and learn about the small changes citizens can make to ensure we are not wasting limited natural resources.

Panelists include:

* Noel Keough- Assistant Professor of Sustainable Design, U of C

* Areni Kelleppan, Executive Director, Green Calgary

* Aatif Baskanderi, Project Lead, SDG Coalition, EWB Calgary
