“The funds that UNAC-Calgary graciously provided for Youth Forum with the Youth Mentorship Program at CIWA have benefitted this event for two years running. UNAC’s contribution has assisted immigrant and Canadian youth involved in the program to develop leadership skills, make new friends and voice their opinions in the process of planning and implementing Youth Forum. This event has benefited the larger community by raising awareness about immigration and integration challenges, particularly among youth populations, by increasing participants’ cross-cultural understanding, and connecting guests to community resources. Without UNAC’s support, this event would not have been possible. Thank you for supporting immigrant girls!”

“I have been really interested in international relations ever since I joined the Model United Nations club at my school. At one of the competitions, I heard a presentation about SUNIA and immediately wanted to attend the week experience. I applied but due to my family being unable to pay the fees due to low income, I applied for bursary and was readily given one to me by SUNIA, sponsored by UNAC-Calgary, which I am really grateful for because the week at the seminar was one of my best weeks in my life. Upon arrival at the bus stop in Red Deer, the SUNIA Staff welcomed me and from the moment we stepped on the bus to Goldeye, the fun and the learning experience had started. Activities started right when we got on the bus and the journey felt like it passed in minutes. All the counselors just felt like peers and were also really informative about their post-secondary studies that gave me a lot of information for university for next year. We did loads of activities throughout the week and I didn’t feel like even a minute of my time was going to waste. Including all the seminars, we also had a lot of fun at the campfires before bed and hikes and swims around the Goldeye area. The final debate was also a lot of fun and we learned a lot about the relations between countries during conflicts. I will recommend SUNIA to all my friends and am also thankful for organizations like UNAC- Calgary who keep supporting students like me.”
