AGM and Discussion Panel on Accessing Justice in Alberta

Calgary, AB: On June 19th, United Nations Association in Canada, Calgary Branch will be hosting their 2013 Annual General Meeting at the Kahanoff Conference Centre. The evening begins at 6:00 PM, and will feature a panel discussion on Access to Justice in Alberta. Our special guest panel includes:

  • Susan Billington, Q.C., Policy and Program Counsel, Law Society of Alberta
  • Margaret Keelaghan, Senior Managing Counsel, Calgary Legal Guidance
  • Sarah Burton, Research Lawyer, Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre – University of Calgary

Human Rights, Human Wrongs. Who in the World Cares?

Calgary, December 10, 2013—United Nations Association in Canada- Calgary Branch (UNAC- Calgary) will be hosting “Human Rights & Human Wrongs, Who in the World Cares” at the Calgary Central Public Library’s John Dutton Theater in commemoration of Human Rights Day.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed December 10th as International Human Rights Day in 1950 to bring attention to the Universal Declaration of Human rights as the common standard of achievement for all peoples and nations.

About the Event

UNAC- Calgary is honoured to commemorate Human Rights Day here in Calgary and we are pleased to feature Sally Armstrong as our keynote speaker for this event.

Sally Armstrong is a three time Amnesty International award winner, human rights activist, journalist, author, Member of the Order of Canada and documentary filmmaker. She has covered stories in conflict zones from Bosnia and Somalia to Rwanda and Afghanistan, and she will be sharing some of those stories with us.
