Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation

On July 1st, the Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL) came into effect to limit companies and organizations from sending unwanted emails or installing unwanted programs onto people’s computers. Under this legislation, companies and organizations that sell products and services have until 2017 to obtain “explicit” consent from email recipients (that is, recipients must opt-in to continue receiving commercial electronic messages). However, this new legislation covers “commercial” electronic messages only (if a transaction does not happen, CASL does not apply), and fundraising emails from charities are exempt.

Volunteer Position: External Partnerships Coordinator

UNAC-Calgary is seeking an External Partnerships Coordinator to provide assistance to the Director of External Partnerships related to relationships management and follow-up with key partners and fund recipients. This position will work in close collaboration with the External Partnerships Director ensure timely follow-up is completed with all fund recipients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with database maintenance of key partnership recipients and request for funding applications
  • Assist with the timely follow-up for all fund recipients in accordance to UNAC-Calgary policies and procedures
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for deeper engagement of key stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Director of External Partnerships to ensure that key messaging related to key stakeholders are communicated through newsletter and social media
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of External Partnerships to invite and engage key stakeholders in UNAC-Calgary events and activities
  • Assists in actively seeking out and promoting potential fund recipient groups with projects that meet UNAC-Calgary funding mandate criteria
  • Other related duties as required
  • Commit to a minimum of one year
